Bite Of The Day: Fresh Juice From Coney Island Avenue’s Fruitilicious Café
Fruitilicious Café may appear humble, its tiny inside too small for a table or chairs, but the mom-and-pop juice shop that opened at 862 Coney Island Avenue about a month and a half ago is a place worth the wade through the mugginess of a late afternoon in August.
Flanked by an explosion of color – green walls surround you and a a display case brimming with pineapples, oranges, and carrots greets you immediately upon entering – customers have the option of a variety of fresh juices, smoothies, frozen yogurt, and coffee.
We tried a juice that had carrots, apples, and beets blended with ice and another one with oranges and ice. The former was a brilliant red melange that was just begging for a photo shoot against the bright green wall, and the latter immediately wiped all memory of the sweat that so stubbornly clung to skin during the walk from Church Avenue. Together, the two medium drinks were $9.
While we weren’t able to try everything, we will be back – plus, we’re already hearing loud cheers of approval from the neighborhood about all of the spot’s offerings.
Fruitilicious is located at 862 Coney Island Avenue, between Cortelyou Road and Ditmas Avenue. It can be reached by calling (718) 554-1214.
Go forth and slurp!
