Bite Of The Day: Clinton Park Cafe’s Chicken BLT Is An Instant Classic

Simple ingredients, prepared well, at affordable prices, with a smile. That’s what you are pretty much guaranteed during every trip to Clinton Park Cafe (274 Hall Street), an unassuming spot and instant neighborhood favorite among Pratt students and local residents alike.

The menu also stands out as more extensive than you might anticipate, but also well curated with classic diner fare like wraps, salads, burgers, breakfast, hot entrees, and more. The portion sizes are also pretty large, yet the prices remain affordable — right up our alley, so that we could eat here every day if we wanted.

This time, we went for a Chicken BLT ($8.75) with a side of sweet potato fries (substituted for the regular side of French Fries, for an additional $1).

The wrap is practically overflowing with tender chunks of chicken topped with a generous layer of lettuce and chopped tomatoes, giving every bite a satisfying crunch-meets-juiciness. The sweet potato fries are equally balanced, with a lightly crispy outside and soft inside that doesn’t try to hide it’s origins as an awesome sweet potato. The portion size is large enough that you can save half of each for later and, no surprise, they hold up amazingly well the next day.

Verdict: We love this neighborhood standby and want to make sure it continues to have a long life in the area, so keep frequenting it. See you there!
