Bite Of The Day: Brunch At Samantha’s Southern Cuisine
Samantha’s Southern Cuisine (980 Fulton Street at Grand Avenue) reopened last week following recent renovations, so we stopped in on Sunday to enjoy some of their weekend only fare. We had a fabulous meal that was both tasty and, we thought, a value rarely found of late in our corner of Brooklyn.
Our companion ordered the Eggs Bennetsville ($8), a scramble served on toasted brioche with sage sausage, peppers, and onions. Equally fluffy and gooey with melted cheese, the fresh veggie dish was the perfect size to fill a diner up without weighing said diner down.
We ordered the chicken and Belgian waffle ($9). The dish comes with an option of juicy light or dark meat or only wings, fried with a savory, crusty skin that contrasts mouthwateringly (we’re sticking with that word) with Samantha’s maple syrup and powdered sugar toppings. We didn’t leave much on the plate.
Now that Samantha’s has reopened, you can support them–and support the idea of a $20 meal for two–from 12-1opm Wednesday through Saturday or 10am-6pm on Sundays. Samantha’s is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and serves brunch from 12-3pm on Saturdays and all day on Sundays.
