Bite Of The Day: A Beastly Burger From NeroDoro

The past few months have been largely gorgeous and sunny, and where better to enjoy the weather (and beat the heat) than NeroDoro (395 Classon Avenue at Greene Avenue)? The restaurant, on the Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy border, has two walls of floor to ceiling windows that turn to open, making NeroDoro the perfect spot to feel like you’re enjoying the outdoors without sacrificing the comfort of air conditioning.

We stopped in recently for lunch–the restaurant is extra appealing to us for its WiFi and non-coffee shop fare–and were encouraged to try NeroDoro’s burger ($12.50). We wondered how smart it was to try a burger from an Italian eatery, but our skepticism turned out to be unwarranted.

Served on a toasted bun with sesame seeds, crispy iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, and herbed aioli, NeroDoro’s grass fed patty is substantial (hence the skewer–no toothpick is going to make a difference here), juicy, and flavorful. The burger can be customized with onions, avocado, an egg, or cheddar, Swiss, American, Mozarella, Fontina, Gorgonzola, or goat cheese–and while we ordered it with the restaurant’s yummy homemade potato chips on the side, there is a salad option as well. You know, just in case you decide to be good.

You can sit down with your laptop (or not!), enjoy dishes as diverse at the burger, banana pancakes, or polenta wedges with mushrooms, or sip espresso or a wine from NeroDoro’s rotating list from 7:30am-11pm Monday through Thursday, until 12am on Fridays, from 9am-12am on Saturdays, and 9am-10pm on Sundays.
