Bike to Work with Neighbors on May 18

Neighbor Julie May is organizing a Bike to Work Day trip that will start at the Cortelyou Library on Friday, May 18:

We’ll start on Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road in Ditmas Park and head to Prospect Park. We’ll go up the hill and around slightly to exit at Grand Army Plaza and take Union Street to 5th Avenue. We’ll travel up 5th until Bergen Street where we’ll hang a left and ride all the way to Court Street. We’ll turn left and a quick right onto Warren, turn right up Clinton, and arrive at Brooklyn Historical Society’s landmark building at the corner of Pierrepont Street. If there is coffee at Borough Hall with Marty Markowitz we’ll detour there for a few minutes. Others can continue on Clinton toward either of the bridges or MetroTech destinations.

For more info and to RSVP, visit the event page.

Also, I know some people bike to work regularly from the neighborhood (at least 7%). Do any of you have a recommended routes, particular places you avoid, or any other advice for new bike commuters? And would you ever consider having a group bike commute become a more regular thing?
