Beware Weekend Service Changes on the Q Train Through Mid-May
At least it’s not shuttle buses. Beginning this weekend, and then every weekend through May 21, Coney Island-bound Q trains will run express from Prospect Park to Sheepshead Bay, only stopping at Church Ave, Newkirk Plaza, and Kings Highway. For stops in between, you’ll have to walk or double-back.
MTA spokesperson Kevin Ortiz explains these changes are due to “track panel installation at Kings Highway.”
He adds that rail replacement south of Ocean Parkway will cause the trains to run in two sections–between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Brighton Beach and between Brighton Beach and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue every 16 minutes–this Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 6pm.
Here are the details:
Weekend, 11:30pm Friday to 5am Monday
April 20-23, April 27-30, May 4-7, May 11-14, May 18-21
