Best Block in Ditmas Park?

Here we’ve been thinking about the best corners in Ditmas Park all week, and along comes The L Magazine with the 50 Best Blocks in Brooklyn, another one of their lists which seem designed to make people argue (I think we all remember their Neighborhood Power Rankings). But it works every time–it’s hard to resist talking about it, especially when this new list features but one block in our neighborhood, and it seems somewhat random:

35. Best Block for Pretending

Marlborough Road
(between Beverly and Cortelyou, Ditmas Park)

Seriously, is this where they shot Tree of Life?

That’s the street you’re looking at in the photo above. I’m not going to contest the loveliness of this particular block, but it’s like they threw a dart at a map (and then forgot to check the spelling of Beverley). And then to not make their brief list of top 5 best blocks to live on? Well, obviously that’s a grave error, but it’s keeping our “secret” safe for a little while longer.
