On Friday afternoon, a damaging fire tore through a home in Bensonhurst, causing thick clouds of smoke to gather on neighboring streets.
More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze for two hours beginning on Friday, April 28 around 3pm, said FDNY.
The fire sparked at 2062 61st Street between 20th and 21st Avenues, and neighbors told News 12 they heard an explosion and described a lot of smoke on the block.

One neighbor was found with burns and was rushed to Staten Island University North in serious condition, and six firefighters sustained minor injuries, said FDNY.
As of Monday morning, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. We will update as we learn more.
