Are You Being Harassed By Your Landlord? Attend These Town Halls With Borough President Eric Adams
Borough President Eric Adams and civil rights attorney Norman Siegel are kicking off the first of three tenant harassment town halls tonight, Tuesday, July 14 at 6pm at the courtroom in Brooklyn Borough Hall (209 Joralemon Street in Downtown Brooklyn).
All are welcome to attend the forum, which is being held to investigate cases of tenant harassment throughout the borough and to determine the potential for lawsuits against “particularly harmful landlords whose actions have put the health and safety of Brooklynites at risk,” the borough president’s office said in a press release.
During the event, Adams will hear testimony from any tenant who wishes to detail their housing grievances — of which our neighbors have many, including years of electrical problems that neighbors said led to a major fire, collapsed ceilings, black mold, and much more.
After tonight, the next two tenant harassment town halls will be held:
- Thursday, July 16, 6pm at All Saints Church (115 Throop Avenue in Williamsburg).
- Tuesday, July 28, 6pm at SUNY Downstate Medical Center (450 Clarkson Avenue).
