Police Search for Suspect in Violent Bed-Stuy Rape

BED-STUY – Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a rape that took place in Bed-Stuy this Monday, March 5.

The attack took place around 3:15 am behind 33 Saratoga Avenue in Bed-Stuy, about a block from the Halsey Street JMZ stop. The suspect wrapped a belt around the neck of his 52-year old victim, said police, slamming her to the ground. The suspect then punched and kicked the victim repeatedly, cutting her face and knocking out several teeth before sexually assaulting the woman, said police.

When a garbage truck entered the lot where the attack took place, the victim was able to escape her attacker, who fled on foot westbound on Halsey Street. Police said the victim was treated for her injuries at a nearby hospital.

Police described the individual as a black man, 25 to 30 years old, 5’2″ to 5’5″ and 115 to 120lbs. He has medium length dreadlocks with multi-colored rubber bands and was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, under a green and orange bomber jacket, with black pants, black and white sneakers and a light-colored backpack.
