Be DA for a Day with Legal Lives Anti-Bullying Video Contest

Attention budding filmmakers and young district attorney dreamers! Kings Country District Attorney Charles J. Hynes is holding his Third Annual Anti-Bullying Video Contest for Brooklyn students in grades four through nine. The winner will become Brooklyn district attorney for a day. From the DA’s YouTube page:

Bullying is a problem in schools and on the internet. It is intentional, aggressive behavior that involves an imbalance of power or strength, typically repeated over time. Bullying has a serious effect on its victims, often leading to depression, and in some cases, it may even lead to suicide. District Attorney Hynes said “The goal of the contest is to raise the consciousness of not only children, but teachers, administrators and parents to the reality of bullying and how each of them has to step up and be a part of solving this problem. If more young people were to take a stand against bullying, then the phenomenon would likely diminish over time.”

Videos will be judged on creativity and content, and the use of music, dancing or pictures is encouraged. To enter, students should upload their masterpiece as a response to the above video via YouTube. Submission deadline is 5pm on April 30.
