Bayfest Draws Near!

Tomorrow marks the 16th year of Bayfest, Sheepshead Bay’s annual waterfront street fair organized by the Bay Improvement Group (BIG). The event takes place on Emmons Ave and kicks off at noon.

From the event’s website:

Bayfest is Brooklyn’s biggest waterfront event and is the only vendor-free street fair in all of NYC. Now in its 16th year and completely free, Bayfest is an all-day celebration of Sheepshead Bay, a unique community minutes from the Atlantic Ocean that includes a party boat fishing fleet, historic structures, and marine recreational activities–all in one beautiful harbor. Held alongside our piers,  Bayfest offers a festival of continuous music and fun both as a service to the community and to raise New Yorkers’ awareness of this treasure by the bay.

The fair will feature amusement rides, face painting, cartoon characters & arts ‘n’ crafts, a FDNY fireboat display, wildlife talks – with real animals – by the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, NY Aquarium & the Department of Environmental Conservation, sailing demonstrations and views of historic sailboats, as well as a 50-50 raffle.

Oh, and let’s not forget THIS GUY:

Vince Martell, “lead guitarist of Vanilla Fudge, U.S. Navy veteran, classic rock legend and Long Island Music Hall of Fame inductee” will be jammin’ on the bay from 3pm-6pm. And let’s just say, we REALLY hope he’ll be bringing that jacket.

Also playing is the folk band Stout (12pm), classic rock group Girls on Top (1pm) and Bergen County Firefighters Pipe Band, featuring The Shots (2pm) — a rock group with bagpipes!

And again, don’t forget… THIS GUY!
