Victim Identified, Suspect Still Unknown in Bay Ridge Slaying

BAY RIDGE – After a fatal shooting in Bay Ridge last week, police have released the identity of the victim—but are a still looking for their suspect.

The shooting took place around 5:45 pm on Friday, September 7, near 93rd Street and 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge. Responding to a 911 call regarding an assault, police arrived at the scene to find 23-year-old Grei Frasheri unconscious and unresponsive on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his neck.

An off-duty Secret Service agent was nearby and attempted to aid the victim, the Daily News reported. EMS transported Frasheri to Lutheran Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

A heated argument preceded the shooting, witnesses said, though it’s unclear what the motivation behind the killing was.

According to social media posts from local Councilmember Justin Brannan, Frasheri was born in Albania. He lived around the corner from the scene of the shooting, on Marine Avenue.
