Bay Ridge Blaze Injures 9

BAY RIDGE – A fire at a home in Bay Ridge injured 3 civilians and 6 firefighters early this morning.

The FDNY responded to the 2-alarm fire at 247 73rd St just before 7:00am, August 15. The brick home “had fire coming out of every window on the first floor,” said Battalion Chief James Brennan in a press conference.

With 25 units responding and 106 fire and EMS personnel on scene, the blaze on the first floor was contained in an hour, just before 8:00am, according to an FDNY spokesperson.

Firefighters found occupants on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building. None of the 9 injuries reported were life-threatening and the injured were transported to area hospitals, said the FDNY.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
