Bay Ridge Avenue R Stop Users Petition For Bus Replacement During Construction

About a month ago, Andrew Gounardes  launched a petition to be submitted to Governor Cuomo to increase the bus service for the Bay Ridge Avenue R stop while it undergoes renovations which will close it for about six months. The start date for closures has not been announced yet.

While the repairs are much needed, the nearest stations along the busy R line are a half mile in either direction from the Bay Ridge Avenue stop:

“We are calling on the MTA to run shuttle bus service between Bay Ridge Avenue and 59th Street OR temporarily increase bus service on the B9, B37, and B63 while the Bay Ridge Avenue station is closed for repairs.”

“I started this petition because I believe the only way we are going to get better service from the MTA is if we start demanding it. This isn’t just a rant about the subway on Facebook that everyone comments on and then nothing happens. These are hundreds of names of local residents demanding better service and organizing to make it happen,” Mr. Gounardes said.

There are about 400 signatures on the petition at this time, and the deadline has been extended through the weekend, so if you feel strongly on this topic, add your voice here.
