Bensonhurst is getting its very first Bank of America location.

The 4,000-square-foot mixed use building at 6601 18th Avenue, corner of 66th Street, went on the market in 2012 and was purchased by an investor, Ninth Avenue Equities Company, for $8.45 million, according to city records.

Prior to the sale, Bank of America leased the land for $450,000 a year, and has obtained the rights to tear down the property to build a retail location, according to Jeffrey Shalom, one of the realtors that oversaw the deal.

Signs in the window of the branch indicate that the location is opening imminently. We reached out to the bank to find out the exact opening date, but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Either way, the bank is a great addition to one of the neighborhood’s busiest thoroughfares. Currently, Bank of America consumers must trek out to Borough Park for the nearest branch.
