Back To Earth Space On 5th Avenue For Rent

Though we’d heard it would simply be going from health food market to a more simple deli, it looks like it’s back to the drawing board for the space on the corner of 5th Avenue and St Johns Place.

The store at 139 5th Avenue is currently listed for rent for $10,000 per month. The listing notes that the “owner is open to retail, food service, office and all other tenants,” and that the space is 1,000 square feet, with basement space. For that size, the price is around what several spaces on 7th Avenue have been asking (while remaining empty for a while).

This corner was previously home to Back to Earth, a health food market that made pretty solid smoothies, which opened in 2011. In June, signs went up for a clearance sale, and an employee told us they’d just be transforming the space into something new — but the shop closed not much later, and has been empty since.
