UPDATE (6/16/10): Check out the ENTIRE Seaside Summer Concert Series 2010 Schedule!
(6/10/10: There is an updated version of the Asser Levy Seaside Summer Concert Series 2010 schedule.)
Mixed up in all the BayFest back-slapping with local pols, there was one easily overlooked announcement. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz gave a sneak peak for the 2010 season of the Asser-Levy Seaside Summer Concert Series, which is kicking off its 32nd year this summer.
“When the warm weather is here, that means concerts are around the corner. So mark it down on you calendar .. on July 15 we open up our series,” the borough president announced.
Markowitz revealed two names – one new and one returning – that’ll be performing on the Asser-Levy Seaside stage.
Markowitz announced the introduction of Brenda Lee to the Asser-Levy Seaside Summer Concert schedule. Brenda Lee is a rockabilly, pop and country music performer most well-known for her songs “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” and “I’m Sorry.” It’s Lee’s first time at the event.
Neil Sedaka is the returning act, after playing the event several times. The Brighton Beach native and Lincoln High School alum is best known for hits like “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” and “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen.” He’s performing on the heels of his latest release, The Music Of My Life, an unexpected hit on the Billboard 200 albums for February 2010.
The Seaside Summer Concert Series are free outdoor concerts that take place every Thursday night throughout the summer. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m., and visitors should bring folding chairs or blankets to avoid the $5 rental fee.
We’ll update the schedule as more bands are announced.
