Neighbors concerned about driver, pedestrian, and bicyclist safety on Ocean Parkway are invited to attend a meeting this Wednesday, September 17 at 6:30pm at the Ditmas Junior High School (700 Cortelyou Road).

Assemblyman Jim Brennan and officials from the state Department of Transportation are hosting the meeting, which follows another gathering held on this issue in June.

In June, state DOT personnel met with Community Board 12’s transportation committee, and Brennan hosted the community meeting at which state DOT representatives received feedback from area constituents about proposed improvements to the Ocean Parkway corridor.

Residents have long aired safety concerns about Ocean Parkway, and the city not long ago released a report detailing the 20 worst intersections in the five boroughs – including Ocean Parkway and Church Avenue. There have been a series of fatalities along the busy roadway, including the death of Patricia Ngozi Agbim, a 73-year-old neighbor who moved from Nigeria to the U.S. in 1965 and went on to become the head of the department of library and media services at LaGuardia Community College in Queens.
