Are You Commuting to Manhattan Today?
While we wait for the subway system to get going, is anyone going to try to get out of Ditmas Park by bus? Neighbor Kate, who is hoping to get to Manhattan for work, asked for some advice, seeing that she’s “apprehensive about it given the fact that I’ve never had to rely on any particular bus route to get around the city.”
From what we’ve heard so far, buses that are running are not necessarily on schedule, and might not be stopping at the existing stops, only compounding the problem.
The only local bus route that the MTA said was active as of last night was the B35. Many neighbors regularly rely on express buses from Cortelyou into Manhattan, and the MTA said that those will “operate at near normal strength” today, but that riders “should be prepared for detours due to road and tunnel conditions.”
UPDATE 10:20am: We noticed several express buses on Cortelyou this morning, and most local buses seemed to be running as well. However, neighbor Michael Milch just sent this photo of a bus stop on Church Ave at Ocean Parkway. He notes: “Stop across the street is empty. May be worth it for people to ride to the end and loop back.”
If you’re planning to travel, or have made it, into Manhattan, how did you get there, and how was the trip?
