Archived 86th Street Restaurant Photo Found

This before and after photograph depicts the establishments around 2042 86th Street. The black and white photo is of Cohn’s Restaurant and Dining Room, an old Bensonhurst eatery.

Today, the address doesn’t seem to exist. Currently, 86 Pharmacy is located at 2044 86th Street and Ichi Sushi is at 2040 86th Street. However, if you look closely, you’ll notice that what remains are the bricks from the original structure.

Of course, the other thing that hasn’t changed is the garbage. Even in the olden days, boxes and trash remained stacked on an 86th Street curb for hours (centuries?) on end.
