Apply To Join Your Local Community Board
Interested in getting more involved in your local community government? The deadline to apply to serve on Community Board 6 is coming up fast!
Community Boards meet monthly and discuss everything from overflowing trash bins to potholes and liquor license renewals to city plans to reroute traffic. The local boards don’t have an official say, but they do carry the power of public opinion and can make recommendations to city agencies.
For the first time, teens 16 years old or older can also apply, as long as they live, work, or have a professional interest within the district’s coverage area, which includes Park Slope, Gowanus, Carroll Gardens/South Brooklyn, Cobble Hill, the Columbia Street District, and Red Hook.
The deadline to submit CB applications — which must be notarized and submitted to Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams’ office at Borough Hall — is this Sunday, February 15.
