Sweet one bedroom with much coveted in-unit laundry machine
Price: $1,450/month
Location: East 17th Street near Avenue U
Description: It seems like a pretty steep rental price for a 600-square-foot one bedroom, but as someone who has to schlep his laundry to the laundromat I can certainly see the appeal of the in-unit washer and dryer. Ths description also notes a “king size” bedroom and “large living room.” Pets welcome, and there’s a “low fee” as well.

One bedroom, right by the water
Price: $1,400/month
Location: Bay Court and East 16th Street
Description: Either the agent needs a steadier hand, or the interior of this apartment is an architectural marvel purposely designed to look blurry. Which would be cool for like, a minute, until the headache sets in. But we’ll just assume they have a shaky hand. Oh, right, the apartment… second floor, elevator building with laundry facility in the basement. There’s a credit check and broker fee.

Three bedroom “dollhouse” on Brown Street
Price: $2,600/month
Location: 1959 Brown Street
Description: The broker for this two-story “dollhouse” in Marine Park says the location is a place to “de-stress from the pressures of city living in a homespun environment.” Mkay. Still, the deck out back looks like a great place for a barbecue.

  1. These prices are fucking ludicrous. How can one person afford these rates on even a mid range salary? It’s like 2 or 3 incomes per unit.

  2. When you have a few nearby laundries, you don’t need a washing machine in your apt. unless you are plain lazy. PS The rent is OUTRAGEOUS TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Sheepshead Bay has 38 odd thousand per square mile while Brooklyn on an average has 34 odd thousands. Well that sucks.

  4. The doll house has a garden? Where? Two bushes does not a garden make.
I don’t see any garden that would be a “main feature”..Must be on a doll house scale. lol

  5. I live a block away from the station, I know (as I’ve spoken with my neighbors) that quite a few of them have some form of subsidy and if not, they share, sometimes with family, sometimes with a friend. One neighbor *(that I know well) has an open door for new comers. They pay for while they get settled in their new country, and then shortly after they leave another shows up.
An average 2 bedroom, 1 & 1/2 bath goes for an average of 1750.00. Including doorman, pool, laundry on the ground floor and if your lucky, indoor parking.
Never thought the day would come when people would get outpriced for living in Sheepshead Bay!
