A family returning to their car parked in the Trump Village parking lot in Coney Island Saturday found an unnerving surprise on their windshield.

A letter making antisemitic and homophobic statements was left on the vehicle at 2875 West 8th Street, sometime between Friday, August 12 at 3pm and Saturday at 10am, police have confirmed.

“I fucking hate Jews, whites & faggots, they are nasty rotten & dirty scum of the fucking earth. I kill, behead, & jinx them all the time,” reads the note, which claims to be authored by a man named Tyrone Todd Coleman. “They need to die.”

The note’s recipient, who asked to remain anonymous, said he immediately moved his car and filed a police report with the NYPD’s 60th Precinct.

“But about 30 minutes later, I got a call that said the sergeant has advised you to call 911, because we can’t do anything with this letter internally. They wouldn’t even investigate the name signed on the letter,” he said. “The police officer who took my report said ‘West 5th is a Russian Jewish neighborhood, that’s probably why.'”

The tipster, who is a member of southern Brooklyn’s Russian Jewish community, told us he initially feared cops would not take the incident seriously. However, after the tragic shooting of an Imam and his friend in Queens, police did follow up, sending hate crime detectives to his home.

When asked if the incident has been classified as a hate crime, a spokesperson at the NYPD’s press office told us that she was unable to reach the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit unit due to a high volume of inquiries regarding the Queens murder.

“As you can imagine, Hate Crimes is a little busy right now,” she said.

We will keep following up and keep you posted as we learn more.
