Anti-Commie Hooligan Strikes Again With Childish Graffiti On Sheepshead Bay Road

The anti-commie crusader who has been harassing local politicians appears to have struck again — this time scrawling a belligerent and homophobic message on the window of a vacant storefront on Sheepshead Bay Road.

A tipster sent us a photo taken this weekend of new graffiti at the storefront beside the dental clinic at 1725 Sheepshead Bay Road, between Voorhies Avenue and Shore Parkway. Written in black marker, the vandal uses a homophobic slur to label Democratic politicians as communists.

The wording, as well as the black marker used, is similar to graffiti that appeared over Thanksgiving weekend at Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz’s district office — a block away from the vacant storefront. In that case, the vandal also used a black marker to draw a hammer and sickle and write the word “commie” on the office window.

Over the same weekend that Cymbrowitz’s office was tagged, City Councilman Chaim Deutsch received two emails, one read “Drop Dead Commie traitor” and the other said “you suck.”

The website JP Updates, which first reported both cases, says cops believe the emails and graffiti were sent by the same person and are investigating the acts as a possible hate crime because both politicians represent an area with a large Russian-Jewish population.

The NYPD told us they have not received a report about the graffiti at the vacant storefront and that the property’s owner would have to file a complaint. We were not able to contact the landlord of the property.

This isn’t the first time vandals have terrorized the neighborhood. Last year, police sought a group of teenagers who cruised through Manhattan Beach spray painting anti-semitic messages on buildings. Further anti-semitic graffiti appeared in 2012, including at the Holocaust Memorial and a local Jewish center. And there have been other hateful messages — targeting Jewish and Muslim residents — found on property through the neighborhood.

Much like the previous vandals, the person behind the “commie” messages seems to have limited artistic ability and a very weak understanding of English grammar. (Note the improper use of an apostrophe in “Dem’s.”) Whatever this person’s problem, at least the neighborhood can take comfort in knowing the hooligan is likely a bumbling buffoon whose only outlet for the squalid misery of their life is to harass neighbors with incoherent, hateful messages.
