Another West Midwood Home Break-In

It just keeps coming: a neighbor of the man who interrupted a car break-in over the weekend experienced crime yesterday in his home on Glenwood Rd. sometime between 9am and 4pm. He says the perps were most likely able to reach the window by standing on planter buckets in the yard.

The neighbor said police responded within 90 minutes, adding that the detectives were very helpful, and the evidence collection team was able to lift one set of prints.

“They believe it’s a group of teenagers looking for a quick buck,” he says. “They got our iPad and I was able to track it to E18th and Beverley before it was turned off.”

He also says he’s considering starting a block patrol again.

The area of Rugby and Argyle between Dorchester and Avenue H was the setting for many of the crimes neighbors reported over the weekend, and it’s only five blocks or so from the shooting that took place in front of our Ditmas Park West neighbor’s home.

It would be interesting to know if police think the break-ins and the shooting could be related, and why they have the theory about the thieves that they do. We have called the 70th, but have not yet received a response.

Again, if you noticed any activity that might have been related to this incident or any of the crimes committed over the weekend, call the precinct at 718-851-5511 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), and please attend the final 70th Precinct Community Council meetingof the season at UCP (175 Lawrence Ave. between Ocean Pkwy and E 2nd St.) at7:30pm on Wednesday, June 26.
