Another Rock Thrown At A Jewish Man In Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS – Another anti-Semitic attack in the borough.

On August 29 at around 4:57 p.m., a 34-year-man Jewish man was sitting inside his delivery truck on Brooklyn Avenue and Prospect Place, which was stopped in traffic. The driver’s side of the car was open and a group of men was walking by. Someone then threw a rock, which hit the man’s face and caused injury. According to the cops, he refused medical attention. The assault is being investigated as a hate crime.

This incident comes just two days after another Jewish man was attacked in Crown Heights when someone threw a massive brick at his face. And just a few days ago, the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes (OPHC) was launched to help with the increase in hate crimes in the city.

“The drastic increase in hate crimes this year has been alarming, and particularly the rise in anti-Semitic crimes. These crimes are more than just stats – they’re affecting people like you and me, New Yorkers who are victimized and terrorized by baseless hatred,” Council Member Chaim Deutsch told Bklyner.

“Whether it’s the Orthodox man in Crown Heights who is assault with a brick to his face, the hijab-wearing girl who is verbally assaulted on a bus, or the black teen who walks past hateful graffiti targeting his race every day in his way to school – this is unacceptable,” he continued. “One thing I can assure my constituents, my fellow Brooklynites, and all New York City residents: we will not rest until we chase the hate out of this City.”

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
