The storefront located at 3099 Emmons Avenue, near Batchelder Street, has claimed another victim.

The Wolf Cave, an American barbecue restaurant, shut down after less than two years in business. The location has seen several restraurants come and go. Before the Wolf Cave, there was an Italian-Turkish pizza spot, which came after a Ukrainian restaurant and sushi joint.

Wolf Cave owner Aidan Urman said he had been hunting for bank loans to keep his business afloat. When the financing fell through, he was forced to close shop last week.

“It is very hard and very frustrating. This is my dream,” said Urman. “It feels like everything is crashing around you.”

The Wolf Cave, branded with a wolf picture that looks remarkably similar to one on the HBO series Game of Thrones, offered smoked beef brisket, short ribs, corn bread, as well as wraps, sandwiches and salads. Urman, who lives in Sheepshead Bay, said he chose to focus on barbecue because he wanted to bring something different to the neighborhood.

“I wanted to bring something that nobody had in this neighborhood,” he explained. “On Emmons Avenue, there is a lot of Turkish restaurants and a lot of Russian restaurants. But there is no barbecue.”
