Another Day, Another Rezoning Meeting

Now that the Superstorm has passed, the presidential election has been decided, and the snow is beginning to melt, Park Slope can go back to what’s really important: the proposed school rezoning plan.

The extremely controversial proposal has resulted in not one but two meetings in which parents squared off against Department of Education’s Director of Planning Carrie Marlin and District 15 Community Education Council President Jim Devor. Now get ready for round three, scheduled for 7pm, Tuesday, November 13 at PS 321.

UPDATE 11/9: According to Council Member Brad Lander, the meeting is at 6:30pm at John Jay HS.

If history is any guide, the next meeting is going to be a knock-down, drag-out fight discussion.

For those unaware of the brewing brouhaha, there are blog posts, newspaper articles, petitions, and Facebook pages.

Confusingly, PS 321 has another rezoning meeting on the calendar: 7pm, Thursday, November 8 (childcare will be provided). It seems as if this is a discussion for PS 321 families, and the CEC will not be present.

The CEC will meet on November 28 to vote on the proposal.
