Amira’s Is Closed ‘Until Further Notice’
Amira’s the Mediterranean restaurant that replaced Anthony’s just over a year ago, is “closed until further notice,” according to a note on their Facebook page.
The restaurant, whose couscous we’ve really enjoyed, opened at 426A 7th Avenue, between 14th and 15th Streets, in October 2013 after Anthony’s, a popular Italian joint that had been in the space for eight years, closed a month earlier. Though Amira’s also dished out pizza from the brick oven that is still in the space, the menu was more of a Mediterranean affair, with hummus, kebobs, and spinach pie getting good reviews.
We’ve reached out to the owners to see what their plans are for the space and will update when we learn more, but we did spot the storefront listed for sale and rent. The listing estimates the value of the space’s renovation and equipment at between $400,000-$500,000, and says it’s available for $225,000 as key money, with a base rent of $6,442 with escalations; or for less as a sublet.
