All are invited to the Albemarle Neighborhood Association’s meeting this Thursday, March 19, from 7-8pm at the Flatbush Jewish Center (327 E. 5th Street, by Church Avenue).

Councilman Brad Lander will be the evening’s guest speaker and is expected to address traffic safety in the neighborhood, including the planned installation of speed humps on Albemarle Road, between McDonald Avenue and Ocean Parkway.

As Lander wrote to in an email to the community in December 2013, the speed humps are expected to help alleviate the longstanding concerns about safety along Albemarle.

“The stretch of Albemarle Road in Kensington (between Ocean Parkway & McDonald Avenue) is a big safety concern for our community,” Lander wrote. “Speeding is prevalent, putting pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers at risk. This year alone, there have been ten crashes on this corridor, including a two-car collision at East 2nd Street just last week.”
