After months of anticipation, Alamo Drafthouse has delayed its grand opening in Downtown Brooklyn, the venue announced Wednesday.

The Texas-based chain, is a movie theater, restaurant, and bar all under one roof, and was slated to open at Brooklyn’s City Point development on Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue. But the venue said on its website that it would not open its doors at 445 Gold St. in August as planned.

“If you’ve been in or around the subway over the past week, you’ve probably noticed our fancy new billboards with the exciting tagline ‘Opening in August,'” the venue stated on its website. “Despite what those subway ads are telling you, the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn will NOT be opening this month, and we’re really sorry.”

Alamo said because of “setbacks” it was “no longer realistic” to open this month, and said that opening a business in New York City is “complicated.”

We reached out to Alamo for when the venue would open, but a spokesperson has not responded in time publication. For now, the theater stated, “We don’t have an answer right now,” regarding its new opening date, but will let people know when “as soon as possible.”
