Looking for some quick but tasty comfort food to enjoy on the go? Windsor Terrace has just what you’re craving, in the form of a small, savory pie.

Located at 211 Prospect Park West and 16th Street, DUB Pies has been serving up their New Zealand-style pies to neighborhood fans since 2007, but Wednesday was (embarrassingly) our first visit.

We decided to go traditional with one of their steak mince pie (shown left for $6.50), but couldn’t help but give the breakfast pie (shown right for $5.25) a whirl, too.

First of all, don’t let the size fool you. These small pies, both deliciously flaky, pack a filling punch, and would definitely satisfy a lunchtime appetite.

The steak mince pie, filled with ground beef in an onion gravy, was quite tasty, but our favorite was definitely the breakfast pie. Made up of egg, cheese, and bacon, the pie was full of flavor, and made a fantastic on-the-go bite. The steak mince was a bit messy at times, but the breakfast pie was super easy to eat (just watch out for stray pastry flakes on your shirt afterward).

So the next time you find yourself near Bartel-Pritchard Square, stop in for a savory pie at DUB. We’ll certainly be back for more.

DUB Pies is open Monday through Thursday, 7am-8pm; Friday, 7am-10pm; Saturday, 8am-10pm; and Sunday, 8am-8pm. Note that the restaurant is cash only, so be sure to grab some money at the ATM before heading up the Slope.
