Start preparing your application for the newest affordable housing lottery to hit Fort Greene. The building is at 250 Ashland Place and there are 282 units available — 118 of them for low-income tenants — as a mix of studios through 3-bedrooms. The deadline is April 11.
The 52-story building sits in the middle of the BAM expansion area and is prime real estate for those who can get into it. Fortunately for current residents of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill (and Downtown Brooklyn, Vinegar Hill, DUMBO, and Brooklyn Heights), 50 percent of units (141 units) are reserved for you. Municipal employees also get preference — 5 percent of units (14 units) are reserved for this group.
The affordability index goes like this:
- income brackets range from $28,835 to $200,400
- rents go from $801 to $3,649
There are 24 studios are available for $801/month (if you make $28,835-$36,300); market-rate prices start at $2,001/month. There are also 47 one-bedroom units available for $861/month, 35 two-bedrooms available for $1,042/month, and 12 three-bedroom units available for $1,196.
250 Ashland Place is slated to be complete by the end of the year.
