7th Avenue’s De Luxe Cafe Closing
It’s been a difficult week for 7th Avenue coffee shops. First there was the tragic news of Parco owner Alex Pozzan’s death, and now we’ve discovered that De Luxe (410 7th Avenue, between 13th and 14th Streets) is closing its doors.
Owners Andy and Tina Schulz posted the following message to Facebook on Thursday:
THAT’S ALL FOLKS!! Tomorrow is our last day in the shop!!! Our lease is up, and that marks 3 long, hard years pullin shots and talkin smack! It’s been fun, and thanks to everyone that’s been a part!! Much love to everybody.
Beyond making a delicious cup of coffee (and a wickedly good egg and cheese sandwich), Andy and Tina are known across South Slope (and beyond) as some of the friendliest neighbors around, and we are truly sorry to see them go.
If you’re interested in the possibility of keeping some of that De Luxe magic alive, a Craigslist ad is listing the business for $25,000.
Best us luck Andy and Tina. 7th Avenue just won’t be the same without you.
