7th Avenue Snack Break: Apple Turnover From Espresso 77

Earlier this week we spotted an Instagram picture from neighbor deuceindc showing off a tasty looking cronut from Espresso 77 (410 7th Avenue, between 13th and 14th Streets). We’ve been itching to stop by for one of our own, but when we finally made our way to the cafe this morning, there were no cronuts to be seen.

Employees said that the elusive pastries could possibly make a return, but on weekends only, and directed our attention to an apple turnover made from croissants.

The flaky turnover ended up being quite tasty. It was sweet, but not overly so, and large enough that its $3 price tag felt just right. Definitely a nice twist on your traditional breakfast croissant — and enough to hold us over until we can finally grab a neighborhood cronut.

Espresso 77 is open Mondays through Thursdays, 7am to 9pm; Fridays, 7am to 10pm; Saturdays, 7:30am to 10pm; and Sundays, 8am to 10pm. Credit cards are accepted.
