The 70th Precinct is hosting a blood drive this Wednesday in honor of Detective Dillon Stewart, who died 10 years ago in the line of duty on November 28, 2005. According to the precinct,

After being shot, Dillon suffered a Cardiac Tamponade (a condition caused by too much fluid in the space between the heart and the sac that surrounds it, called the pericardium). This caused insufficient blood return to the heart. As a reminder of life and love and the hope of influencing the future for good, please join us as we celebrate the life of Detective Dillon Stewart by giving the gift of BLOOD.

The blood drive will take place in a mobile blood drive unit in front of the precinct at 175 Lawrence Avenue from 12:30-6:30pm.

So before you head off to visit family and eat your Thanksgiving feast, consider stopping by the blood drive to help those in need and give blood.

For more information about the drive, call the precinct at 718-851-5557.
