Are you shopping for summer camp on a budget? In addition to these camps, just call up the camps you’re interested in.  Many have scholarship programs even if they aren’t advertised.

The Fresh Air Fund
The Fresh Air Fund host 5 different camps as well as matches city kids with country families for 2-week periods. Applications are available as are information nights.

Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program
Applications for BCAP open on February 1st. BCAP allows 7 – 12 year olds explore Brooklyn’s cultural attractions. Full- and partial-scholarships are available. Email for more information.

Camp Friendship Summer Day Camp
This Park Slope based camp doesn’t have a lot of information up, other than there are full- and partial-scholarships offered. Email for more information.

NYC Parks
NYC Parks have a number of recreational programs including summer camps. The website says the waitlist will be open in April which makes me think that they haven’t updated their summer camp page, yet. As soon as they do, available slots go quickly.
Also check out their Learn to Swim, Kids in Motion,  REEL Education, and other Teen Programs.

NYC Parks REC Youth
The REEL Education for Youth deserves its own line. 14 – 17 year olds interested in telling a story through film have a fabulous–and free!–opportunity to learn from professionals and showcase their work in an exhibition. Email for more information.

Police Academy League
The website still advertises its 2013 dates, but if you’re interested in the Police Academy League, go to the website and find which of their 4 Brooklyn locations works best for you.

Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation
This half- or full-day option is entirely public funded which is great for parents looking for affordable summer camps, but tenuous for the Foundation’s budget. The site still has 2014 information up.  Email them for the 2015 application deadline.

Summer Arts Institute
You’ll have to hurry to register your teen for the Summer Arts Institute. The deadline is January 30 at 6pm.
