In this morning’s, ‘how in Marty Markowitz‘ name did we miss this’ news, Forty Weight Cafe (492 6th Avenue) is no more.

We spotted a notice this morning on Yelp saying that the business had closed, so we rang them up. Sure enough, Forty Weight confirmed that the cafe closed on March 31. Facebook also made mention of the news on March 28:

Some of you may be aware while others may not that at the end of this weekend we’ll be leaving our Park Slope location. The space wasn’t perfect for us, so we’re getting out and moving on. We’ve been talking to realtors in the area regarding a new space, there are 2 soon-to-be-open spots in Brooklyn that will be Forty Weight exclusive, and we’re also looking to buy a new roasting facility upstate. Exciting times at Forty Weight.
Thanks to our Park Slope family for the inspiring support. What an amazing experience and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

The good news: The gang is looking for a new home in the area.

The better news: De Luxe (410 7th Ave), Roots Cafe (639 5th Ave), The Ploughman (438 7th Ave), Piccoli Trattoria (522 6th Ave), and Supercollider (609 4th Ave) can satisfy your Forty Weight cravings.

So long story short, the cafe may be gone (for now), but Forty Weight is still going strong in South Slope.
