6th Avenue’s Athena Restaurant For Sale…Or Is It?

Remax Brooklyn is listing Athena Mediterranean Restaurant, located on 6th Avenue and 14th Street, as being up for sale. A quick trip up the block revealed that the restaurant is currently still open and, according to a waiter sweeping the sidewalk, it’s the building that’s for sale, not the restaurant.

We’re skeptical, though. Remax is listing the commercial property, which it describes as “an established, fully-equipped, operating Mediterranean food restaurant,” for $149,000. Pretty sure the entire building would go for significantly more than that.

Interestingly, Athena’s sister restaurant in Boerum Hill closed in May of this year.

We’re waiting to hear back from Athena’s owner, who we’re told is out of town until next week. Watch for an update on this developing story soon.
