The 62nd Precinct is investigating reports of a chronic parking meter dodger on 18th Avenue.

Concerned neighbor John Bluemke complained of the alleged traffic infractor to News 12 Brooklyn this week saying the car parks illegally near 73rd Street every single day. He told the outlet that traffic agents don’t ticket the vehicle because there is an NYPD vest in its windshield.

Police sources who are investigating the report confirmed that the car doesn’t trace to a member of the NYPD, but when they observed the car last night, the vest was nowhere to be found.

“I checked 311 and 911 for that address for the last month,” said 62nd Precinct Commanding Officer Anthony Sanseverino. “But that’s all preliminary. We will do a more thorough investigation.”

Sanseverino also noted that traffic agents are under the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s traffic division, not the precinct. He added that the 62nd Precinct will reach out to traffic agents to make sure they are on the same page.

While Bluemke doesn’t drive, he told News 12 he is bringing attention to the alleged traffic law evader out of a sense of fairness to other drivers and the city.
