61st Precinct Crime Statistics: 3/22 – 3/28/2010

This week saw the first year-to-date increase in any crime so far, highlighting concerns that auto theft (G.L.A.) is on the rise in the neighborhood with a 2.5 percent increase so far this year. In all crimes, there continues to be an overall reduction of 19.61 percent, but that gap is narrowing as crime picks up for the summer.

Please remember to lock your car doors and close your windows. Don’t leave anything valuable in the car. If you have a garage, get your treadmill out of there and start using it for your car.

CompStat reports are produced by the New York Police Department on a weekly basis. As a new feature on Sheepshead Bites, we’ll be summarizing the week’s statistics for the 61st Precinct as the reports become available (usually on Monday, one week after the closing date). The 61st Precinct is the police command responsible for Sheepshead Bay, Gravesend, Kings Highway, Homecrest, Madison, Manhattan Beach, and Gerritsen Beach.
