61st Precinct Crime Blotter: Robberies, Break-Ins, Date From Hell, And More
This is a crime blotter of all the reported incidents within the 61st Precinct over the past week. We will work to do this every week, on either Monday or Tuesday.
Stranger Danger
A Sheepshead Bay man met a woman on Craigslist last June. It started out well; they went on dates “from time to time,” but things went downhill when she invited him into her home on Emmons Avenue and Ford Street last week.
A black man showed up “out of nowhere” and pretended to have a gun, according to police. The man told the victim to take his clothes off, and he did. He then took photos of the naked man and took $900 cash from him.
He then drove the victim to a Chase bank to withdraw $400 for him, making the total money forked over a whopping $1,300, according to police. But he wasn’t done there.
The two then went to Macy’s to get gift cards. After that, the perp fled on foot.
Always a bridesmaid never a bride
A burglar broke into an apartment on Ocean Avenue and Avenue W through a rear window. They took a decorative bridal hair piece, and four rings, one of which had diamonds on it, according to police.
The collective value of what was taken is $4,020, according to police. The incident happened on November 18, at around 8:30pm.
Love Hurts
On Sunday, November 13, at around 11pm a man kicked open the front door of his ex-girlfriend’s home on Hitchings Avenue and Nostrand Avenue. He found the woman’s current boyfriend in the home and assaulted him, giving him bruises on the head and back, according to police.
According to police, the perp has no job, car, Facebook, or gun at his home. The woman told police she doesn’t want to report the crime or press charges.
Never touch another man’s tools

In a separate incident, a Ford work van on East 12 Street, and Avenue V was broken into through the back door The burglar(s) took nearly $4,000 worth of work tools, including a Hilti chipping gun, a pipe vice, a Milwaukee Sawzall and hand drill, according to police.
