6 Local Holiday Markets For Your Pre-Holiday Shopping

Looking for unique, handmade gifts by local artisans — all while avoiding the holiday crowds?

We’ve got you covered with these 6 local markets open this weekend, complete with performances, cultural themes, food, music, and family fun.

Caribbean Holiday Market
Where: Caribbeing House, 794 Flatbush Avenue at Caton Avenue.
When: Weekends until December 24 Friday, 5pm to 8pm; Saturday, 1pm to 8pm; and Sunday, 1pm to 5pm.
What: This shipping container-turned Caribbean art space is bursting with color and culture just outside the Flatbush Caton Market. This month, the gallery space is transformed into a Caribbean-themed holiday market featuring 15 vendors, and gifts like hand-printed napkins from Ulric + Arly, jewelry from Luni Jewelry, clothing from the Haiti Design Co-op, and more. Special performances this weekend: Saturday — live parang with Danielle Brown from 4-6pm; Sunday — we Tea & Tarot readings from 2-4pm.

PS 130 Winter Bazaar
When: Saturday, December 17 from 11am to 5pm.
Where: PS 130, Upper School Building at 713 Caton Avenue.
What: This local market at PS 130 is an annual tradition, featuring more than 35 vendors selling jewelry, home décor, paper goods, beauty products & more. Aside from shopping, the whole family can enjoy a chili cook-off, live music by PS 130 parents, photos with Santa or Elsa from Frozen, a Scholastic book fair, craft activities, and more at the winter bazaar.

PLG Holiday Craft Market
When: Saturday, December 17 from 5pm to 8pm.
Where: PLG Coffee House & Tavern, 499 Rogers Avenue at Midwood Street.
What: This will be your last chance to attend this holiday market in PLG, featuring goods by locall artists and artisans. Get your handcrafted jewelry, hair products, wood sculptures, greeting cards, knitwear and more this Saturday — while enjoying mulled wine, cider, and baked goods.

Winter Flea Holiday Market
When: Saturday and Sundays through March 2017, 10am-6pm
Where: One Hanson Place, Fort Greene.
What: Brooklyn Flea moves indoors for the Winter Flea + Holiday Market with 75 vintage/antique/other vendors plus 25 Smorgasburg vendors selling food every Saturday + Sunday, 10am-6pm. The 2016/2017 market is open at Skylight One Hanson in Fort Greene. $1 admission, children under 16 get in free.

Threes Holiday Market
When: Sunday, December 18, 2pm-6pm
Where: Threes Brewing, 333 Douglass Street near 4th Avenue.
What: A fun and festive day for friends & family to venture out to our winterized outdoor garden, which will include 12 local vendors! We’ll be featuring crafts, gifts, attire, edible treats, wreathes, graphics, accessories + more!

Holiday Craft Sale at Sunny’s Bar
When: Saturday, December 17, 2pm-6pm
Where: Sunny’s Bar, 253 Conover Street (between Beard and Reed Streets), Red Hook
What: Along with amazing crafts, you get live music, hot beverages, chili, chips, and salsa. As if you needed any other excuse to get to Sunny’s in Red Hook.
