Fun Things To Do In The Neighborhood This Weekend
As the weather warms up, we’re all ready to break out from hibernation, and if you’re looking for some events to get you out of the house this weekend, we’ve got some great options for every age group — from a pre-Mother’s Day jewelry trunk show, to an international dance party, to a firehouse tour.

Chess Club

What: A great way for big and little kids alike to learn how to play chess or sharpen their skills with instructor Todd Seidman.

Free FDNY Firehouse Tour
When: Saturday, May 2, 11am–1pm and 1pm–3pm
Where: Your local firehouse
What: Introduce the kids to some local heroes. In honor of the 150th anniversary of the New York Fire Department [FDNY], firehouses across the city will open their doors to local families, offering them a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the daily lives firefighters.

Rally Against the Gravesend Bay Waste Station
When: Sunday, March 3, 1pm
Where: Caesar’s Bay Promenade, 1640 Shore Parkway
What: Take advantage of the beautiful weather and make a difference in your community. Help Assemblyman William Colton fight the good fight against the pollution behemoth that is threatening to detroy our neighborhood. Make your voice heard and help spread awareness by taking part in this important protest.

Swing Along Broadway With Regina Opera

Where: Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Auditorium, 5902 6th Avenue
What: Come swing along Broadway with the Dyker Heights-based opera company, Regina Opera. A group of talented soloists will present a two-hour concert of your favorite Broadway and popular tunes..

Live Reggae & Rasta Pasta at Footprints Cafe
When: Saturday, May 2, 9pm-12pm
Where: Footprints Cafe, 1521 Surf Avenue, Coney Island
What: Nothing says warm weather more than Caribbean soul food and reggae music! This lively bar and restaurant boasts a live band every Saturday night. Plus, jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, their famous “Rasta Pasta,” and cocktails with some very, very naughty names.

International Night at Lutzina
When: Friday, May 1, 9pm-12pm
Where: Lutzina Bar & Lounge, 2031 Bath Avenue
What: Dance the night away at one of Bensonhurst’s sole nightlife establishments. This place has a little everything. In addition to a pulsating pop music and a disco lights, this night club and lounge offers luxurious seating, and a wide menu of food, drink, and hookah flavors.

Spring Fling With Stella & Dot

Where: The Art Room, 8710 Third Avenue, Bay Ridge
