55-Year Old Shot and Killed Outside Bed-Stuy Bodega

UPDATE (1/31/18): The victim of Monday’s fatal shooting has been identified as Ernest BrownLee, 55, a resident of the nearby Sumner Houses on Myrtle Avenue, said police.

The NYPD has reiterated its request for public assistance in tracking down the suspected shooter, releasing surveillance video from a nearby store showing the wanted man before the incident occurred:

BED-STUY – Responding to a 911 call of a man shot in Bedford-Stuyvesant this afternoon, police discovered a man shot outside of a bodega at 266 Throop Avenue, near Vernon Avenue.

When the officers arrived, the 55-year old victim was unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his torso, said police. Arriving on the scene, EMS transported the victim to King’s County Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

So far, there have been no arrests and an investigation into the man’s death is ongoing. Pending family notification, the identity of the victim has not been released.
