A 5-year-old boy was hit by a car on Prospect Park West and 3rd Street on Sunday at 5:30pm, according to officials.

The boy, Roark Bennett, was struck near a memorial erected for 12-year-old Sammy Cohen-Eckstein, who was hit by a car and killed in 2013. Roark ran out into the street against the light after straying from his family, according to The Daily News.

Roark went to the hospital with minor injuries. Cops said there was no criminality.

After Sammy Cohen-Eckstein was killed, his family campaigned to lower the speed limit on Prospect Park West and around the city from 30 mph to 25 mph, which later became a part of Mayor de Blasio’s Vision Zero initiative.

Roark’s mother, Karina Bennett, told The Daily News the new speed limit made the difference, “(Roark) would not have been OK if he had been hit when someone was going 30.”
