Hope everyone enjoys the last weekend of 2013! If you’re looking for some fun things to do to send your year off well, we’ve got some suggestions:

Introduction to Birdwatching
When: Saturday, December 28, 12pm
Where: Prospect Park’s Audubon Center
What: Take a tour from the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn about the 250 species of birds that call Prospect Park home.
How much: Free!

The Steadfast Tin Soldier & Nutcracker Sweets
Where: Puppetworks, 338 6th Avenue, 718-965-3391
When: Daily through Monday, December 30, 12:30pm & 2:30pm
What: These two fun puppet shows (both are shown at each performance), adaptations of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale and Tchaikovsky’s Land of Sweets dances, are becoming a holiday tradition. Appropriate for ages 3 and up.
How much: $8 for children, $9 for adults; reservations are suggested

Are You Game?
When: Saturday, December 28, 8-10pm (doors 7pm)
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Looking for a date for New Year’s Eve? Think your perfect match is the person who will still be interested in you if you beat them at a board game? Then this is the place for you, where trivia, games, booze, and speed dating meet in one odd event. And if you don’t find a match, maybe you’ll come away with one of many prizes, like tickets to shows at Union Hall and The Bell House.
How much: $15, available in advance

What: Bring your dancing shoes to this annual holiday party from the lively pan-Caribbean ensemble, who will play a globe-hopping jam session that encompasses Cuban salsa, Congolese rumba-soukous, Haitian compas, and Puerto Rican plena-bomba.
How much: Free!

Open Mic
When: Sunday, December 29, 8pm
Where: Tea Lounge, 837 Union Street
What: Looking for a low-pressure place to try out some new songs or other pieces? Tea Lounge promises “a great relaxed environment with zero judgment perfect for beginners.”
How much: Free!
