4th Ave Historic Church Faces Demolition

The Church of the Redeemer, on 4th Ave and Pacific Street, is soon to be no more. Brownstoner reports that the building — in addition to its holier duties, a constant source of reassurance that you are finally so close now to the train — is in “severe disrepair and will therefore be destroyed.” A mixed-use property with a new church plus residential units is slated to replace it, and since the 1866 building isn’t landmarked, it seems like history buffs don’t have recourse.
