4th Annual Seafood Throwdown On Saturday At The Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket

The Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket will once again be the site of a fish fight as the 4th Annual Seafood Throwdown commences tomorrow, Saturday, July 13 from 11am to 1pm. Hosted by the Greenmarket and the Northeast Atlantic Marine Alliance, this year pits Slow Food NYC against The Brooklyn Food Coalition in the Iron Chef-style battle.

We don’t know which team will take home the goldfish, but we do know this is a golden opportunity to get some cooking tips, recipe ideas, and some great information about local seafood.

Judging the competition will be Blue Moon Fish’s Stephanie Villani (whose cat Rosie is still on the lam in our area!), GrowNYC executive director Marcel Van Ooyen, and the 2012 reigning champion, Chef Cheryl Smith of Cheryl’s Global Soul. Play by play will be provided by emcee Matt Timms of The Takedown.
